So a CGPA of 8.0 = 8 × 10 − 7.5 = 72.5%. This formula applies to students under the AKTU syllabus 2013 and later. Students under the 2004 or 2009 syllabus may use different conversion factors — check your admission year's regulations.

- CGPA 9.0+: Outstanding / First Division with Distinction
- CGPA 7.5–8.9: First Division with Distinction
- CGPA 6.5–7.4: First Division
- CGPA 5.5–6.4: Second Division
- CGPA 4.5–5.4: Third Division / Pass
- Below 4.5: Fail
AKTU Back Paper (Backlog) Policy
Students with back papers receive an F grade (0 points) for that subject, which reduces CGPA significantly. AKTU allows students to clear backlogs in subsequent semesters.
