Example: 3 wrong out of 30 total
= ((30 − 3) ÷ 30) × 100 = (27 ÷ 30) × 100 = 90.00% → A-

Worked Example
Test: 30 questions total, student got 3 wrong.
Correct = 30 − 3 = 27
Score = (27 ÷ 30) × 100 = 90.00% → A-
The grading chart also shows that getting 4 wrong = 86.67% (B), 5 wrong = 83.33% (B), 6 wrong = 80.00% (B-).
Why Use a Grading Chart?
Teachers who grade many tests by hand can use the chart as a quick lookup table. Instead of re-calculating each paper, just count the wrong answers and read off the percentage and letter grade from the pre-computed table. This saves time and reduces math errors when grading large classes.
