WES GPA Calculator
Convert your international grades to US GPA equivalent using WES's published methodology. Select your country, enter courses and local grades — get your estimated WES US GPA instantly. Supports 10+ grading systems.
How to Use This WES GPA Calculator
Select your home country from the dropdown — the grade options automatically update to match that country's grading system (percentage, letter grades, classification, etc.). Enter each course with its local grade and credit hours. The calculator converts each grade to its US GPA equivalent using WES's published methodology and calculates your cumulative US GPA.
If you studied in multiple countries, the Advanced tier lets you add separate regions for each institution. The Professional tier provides a full multi-country transcript view with degree equivalency assessment and WES application checklist.
How WES Converts International Grades to US GPA
Each local grade is mapped to a US equivalent (e.g., India 80-89% → 3.7 US GPA)
WES uses country-specific conversion tables published at wes.org
WES (World Education Services) maintains country-specific grade conversion tables based on each educational system's grading norms and standards. A 70% in India is not the same academic achievement as a 70% in France — each system is calibrated separately.
The conversions in this calculator are based on WES's published methodology. Final WES evaluations may differ slightly based on institutional-specific norms or additional documentation reviewed by WES evaluators.
Grade Conversion Examples by Country
India (Percentage): 90-100% = A (4.0) | 80-89% = A- (3.7) | 70-79% = B (3.0) | 60-69% = C+ (2.3)
Nigeria (Class): First Class = A (4.0) | Upper Second = B+ (3.3) | Lower Second = B- (2.7)
Germany (1-5): 1.0 = A (4.0) | 2.0 = B (3.0) | 3.0 = C (2.0) | 4.0 = D (1.0) | 5.0 = F (0.0)
UK (Class): First Class = A (4.0) | 2:1 = B+ (3.3) | 2:2 = B- (2.7) | Third = C (2.0)
Australia: HD = A (4.0) | Distinction = A- (3.7) | Credit = B (3.0) | Pass = C (2.0)
WES vs Other Evaluators
WES (World Education Services) is the most widely recognized evaluator, accepted by most US universities, professional licensing boards, and immigration authorities. ECE (Educational Credential Evaluators) is the preferred evaluator for certain institutions and states. IERF and SpanTran are NACES members with specific regional strengths.
For graduate school applications and professional licensing, verify which evaluator your target institution accepts. Some require specifically WES; others accept any NACES member.

Do I Need a WES Evaluation?
Most US graduate programs, professional licensing boards, and employers require a credential evaluation from an approved evaluator (often specifically WES) if your degree was earned outside the United States. The evaluation confirms your foreign credential is equivalent to a specific US degree level and provides your converted GPA.
For US immigration purposes (visa sponsorship, green card), USCIS and USCIS-approved organizations typically require a credentials evaluation. WES is among the most commonly accepted evaluators for these purposes.
